Since the concept of a Professional Learning Community(PLC) was introduced in Korea, there has been much discussion about improving teacher professionalism through collaborative PLC. However, there is a lack of empirical research on the PLC for Technical and Vocational Education and Training(TVET) teachers.
This study aimed to explore the current status of PLCs for TVET teachers in vocational high schools, and the teachers’ experiences in PLCs. Also, this study attempted to discover how to support PLCs for TVET teachers that influence their collaborative learning and growth. The mixed method was employed to combine the statistical data from the survey and the results from in-depth interviews of TVET teachers. This study revealed the motivation for their participation in PLCs, the content of their activities in PLCs inside and outside their schools. Also, this study uncovered what factors support or hinder their learning within PLCs. Based on the research findings, the implications and recommendations were elucidated.
