Participation in vocational training varies considerably among different groups of wage earning workers; the participation rate was high among males (38.5%), those in the 30s (40.8%), those with university degree or higher, and those regular workers (43.7%), but it was low among females (32.4%), those aged 60 and over (19.4%), those with junior high school diploma or lower (17.7%), and temporary workers (7.6%).
Among wage earning workers, the participation rate in vocational training was high in cities and provinces like Ulsan (64.6%), Daejon (53.2%), Chungnam (52.4%), Jeonbuk (51.1%), and Chungbuk (50.5%) but low in cities like Seoul (23.1%) and Incheon (23.0%).
In the case of wage earning workers, the participation rate in vocational training tends to drop as working hours increases, implying that reduction in real working hours would help promote vocational training.
