In terms of industries, the annual cost resulting from workplace bullying is estimated to be 138 billion won for the electronics industry and 26.1 billion won for the steel industry.
The annual cost from workplace bullying per capita is estimated to be 1.43 million won for victims, 0.91 million won for offenders, and 1.18 million won for witnesses.
The bullying occurrence rate for the two industries is 8.9% and is proportional to the number of working hours.
Workplace bullying decreases not only the job satisfaction of victims but also those of offenders and witnesses. It also results in a loss of working hours.
Statistical survey by industry and in-depth research on workplace bullying are necessary to enact the Workplace Bullying Prevention Act.
