Graduation postponement was generalized as follows: half of the four-year university students (44.9% of graduates in 2013) had experienced graduation postponement, etc.
The average number of semesters from admission to graduation for graduation deferrers was longer than those of regular graduates by 2.0 semesters in 2007 and 2.6 semesters in 2013, showing a widening gap.
The qualifications of the graduation deferrers are better than those of general graduates, and such leads to a better employment result.
In the case of four-year college graduates in 2013, the social cost due to graduation postponement was about 251.4 billion won, which was significantly higher than the 206.8 billion won in 2007. In other words, the choice of graduation postponement may be rational for the individual but very costly for society.
