52% of jobs available in South Korea are categorized as high-vulnerability jobs that are very likely to be replaced by computers with the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
With regard to the percentage of workers in high-vulnerability jobs in different industries, the figure for the transportation industry was the highest (81.3%), followed by the wholesale and retail industry (81.1%) and the finance and insurance industry (78.9%). In terms of specific jobs, the figure for sales workers was the highest (100.0%), followed by machine operators and assemblers (93.9%), as well as craftsmen and those working in related fields (82.9%).
The groups found to be vulnerable to the Fourth Industrial Revolution are: in terms of sex, men rather than women; in terms of age, those aged 50 or older; in terms of education, those who have had a high-school education or less; and in terms of employment type, temporary/daily workers.
The college majors found to be most vulnerable to the Fourth Industrial Revolution are social sciences and humanities. In particular, the proportion of people working in jobs that are very likely to be replaced by computers was high among those who majored in economics and business management.
