우리나라 고등학생의 약 15%는 고등학교 재학 중 책을 한 권도 읽지 않은 것으로 나타남.
우리나라 전체 고등학생은 한 달 평균 1.81권의 책을 읽고 있으며, 독서에 대한 태도는 보통 수준인 것으로 나타남.
독서 활동을 보다 활발히 하는 고등학생들은 그렇지 않은 학생들에 비해 학업성취도, 진로성숙도, 다문화수용성, 자기효능감 수준이 높은 것으로 나타남.
고등학생들의 독서 활동에는 혼자 공부하는 시간, 중학교 3학년 때의 성적 등이 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타남.

In Korea, 15% of high school students do not read a single book while in high school.
The average number of books read by Korean students stands at 1.81, and they have neither a positive nor negative attitude toward reading books.
High schoolers who read many books demonstrate high academic performance, a greater maturity in their career aspirations, more openness to cultural diversity, and higher self-efficacy.
Their reading habits have been found to be affected largely by the number of hours they study alone and their academic performance in their third year of middle school.
