In a 2019 survey for「Korean Education & Employment Panel(KEEP) II」, college students born in 1999, classified as "generation Z," responded to a question "Until when should parents support their children financially?" as follows:
-61.7% said "until college graduation"
-25.5% said "until they find jobs"
-10.3% said "until high school graduation"
To a question "Do you think anyone can succeed in our society if they work hard?," only 29.6% of college students born in 1999 responded positively. Compared to a 2006 survey, fewer respondents chose hard work as the key to success, while more respondents chose parents' support or connection.
College students born in 1999 said one's talent and aptitude were the most important factors in choosing jobs. Compared to the 2006 survey, the share of respondents who chose high wages and income jumped from 20.3% to 42.3%.
