Credit-system-based vocational high schools were more active in operating elective courses open to selection by students in 2020 compared to 2019.
The number of elective subjects of each department in 2020 rose by 2.8 on average compared to 2019. In particular, the number of elective subjects of each department at Meister high schools, which adopted the credit system this year, rose by 6.9 on average from 5.3 in 2019 to 12.1 in 2020.
In 2020, the number of departments that allow students to freely select elective courses within each department and and the number of those that allow students to take subjects of other departments (major educational model for a credit-system-based vocational high school) increased drastically by 173 and 193, respectively, compared to 2019.
