산업 환경 변화에 따라 직업계고 학과의 교과군도 함께 변화하고 있음.
경영·금융 및 미용·관광·레저 교과군으로의 학과 개편 수요는 점차 감소하고 있으며, 기계, 음식조리, 정보통신, 건설, 전기·전자 교과군으로의 학과 개편 수요는 증가하는 추세임.
경영·금융 교과군은 타 교과군으로 전면 개편 방식의 학과 개편 경향이 두드러지게 나타났으며, 기계, 건설, 전기·전자 교과군 등은 기존 교과군과 타 교과군이 융합하는 방식의 학과 개편 경향이 상대적으로 많이 나타났음.
교과군 변화에 따른 NCS 분류체계 개선, 교육과정 신규개발 및 개선 등의 후속 지원이 요구됨.

- Vocational high school’s subject areas have been changing alongside changes in the industry environment.
- Management/finance and beauty/travel/leisure subjects face decreasing demand; machinery, culinary, IT, construction, electric/electronics subjects see increasing demand.- Management and Finance showed a clear trend of complete replacement to a different subject area. Machinery, Construction, and Electric (aka Electronic) showed a relatively more significant converging trend than other subject areas.
- Improvement to the NCS categorization system and follow-up support such as new curriculum development and improvement is needed with changes in subject areas.
