Demand for the restructure of departments of vocational high schools is rising, calling for the need to reflect changes in industrial structures. Departments have been reformed through the Ministry of Education’s support projects for the reform of vocational high over the last 5 years. As a result, demands for departmental reforms that merge two or more curricula (or groups) continued to rise. At the same time, overall departmental reforms to other curricula (or groups), from management and finance and information and communication to healthcare and welfare/design and culture contents, have increased. On the other hand, mechanic, curricula (or groups) such as electric, and electronic/design and culture contents tended to remain in the existing curricula (or groups) and were reformed by sophisticating their curricula. With the implementation of Project to Support the Reform of Vocational High Schools 2.0 in 2023, which promotes departmental reforms for local talent development in new industries and technologies, each school needs to develop detailed plans for reform. Policy support is required to develop and distribute new curricula once reforms are completed.
