Numerous studies have been conducted suggesting that informal workplace learning has been beneficial for the career development of employees. In contrast, research on the advantages of formal learning and the role of trainers has been limited. This study controlled for individuals' general characteristics and levels of career satisfaction, compared three groups. 1) those who did not participate in a work-learning dual program, 2) early-career individuals who completed the programs, and 3) the in-company trainers of the program. The analysis revealed that those who participated in work-learning dual programs perceived a more positive person-job fit, greater authenticity to their careers, and a higher willingness to take on challenges. These findings imply that systematic workplace formal learning contributes to the career development of workers. Therefore, organizations should plan and implement systematic and ongoing human resource development activities to support employees' career development.
