경계성지능 자립준비청년은 취업과 일터 적응에 많은 어려움을 겪고 있으며, 이들의 효과적인 자립을 위해서는 자립 이전부터 체계적인 진로설계와 취업 지원이 필수적임. 이들을 위한 자립지원 프로그램 인식 및 운영 현황을 살펴보면, ‘진로탐색 및 취업기술’, ‘직장생활기술’ 프로그램의 운영 빈도와 중요도가 가장 낮게 나타남. 아동양육시설 및 자립지원시설 종사자들은 직업적 흥미와 함께 직장에서의 태도와 직장 내 갈등관리를 중요하게 인식하고 있음. 그러나, 관련 프로그램 지원은 미흡하여 이들을 위한 취업 지원 프로그램의 개선이 시급함. 이를 위해서는 경계선지능 자립준비청년의 특성을 고려한 진로탐색기술과 직장생활기술 프로그램의 개발 및 사회적경제기업 등과 연계한 일자리 경험 제공, 직업훈련 체계 마련 등 다양한 정책 지원이 필요함.

Youths with borderline intelligence who wish to live independently struggle to find a job and adjust to their workplaces. It is essential to provide these youths with systematic career planning and employment support as they prepare to become independent. Research on the public’s perception and the management of self-reliance support programs shows that their awareness on the frequency and importance of “skills for career exploration and employment” and “workplace skills” is the lowest. Those who work at childcare facilities and self-reliance support facilities understand the importance of one’s career interests, attitude at work, and the ability to cope with workplace conflict. However, a lack of support for related programs calls for improvement in employment support programs. To this end, policy support such as programs for skills for career exploration and workplace skills need to be developed, along with work opportunities offered by social enterprises and new vocational training systems.
