학생들의 직업가치 추구 경향의 양상을 파악하는 것은 사회적으로 건전하고 지속 가능한 직업가치를 형성하기 위한 기반이 됨. 우리나라 학생들이 희망 직업을 선택하는 기준은 다양하나, ‘내가 좋아하는 일’과 ‘잘 해낼 수 있는 일’이 주요한 선택 기준으로 나타남. 2018년과 2022년 초·중·고 학생의 희망 직업 선택 기준을 비교한 결과, ‘경제적 보상’에 대한 비율이 증가함. 의사와 법률전문가를 희망하는 이유에서도 ‘경제적 보상’과 ‘사회적 인정’을 기대하고 직업을 선택하는 비율이 증가하였음. 직업 가치의 다양성과 전문직의 사회적 책무를 고려할 때, 학생들이 건전한 직업가치를 형성할 수 있는 다양한 정책적 노력이 요구됨.

Understanding trends and patterns in the occupational values of students serves as the foundation for establishing socially sound and sustainable occupational values. “What I like to do” and “what I’m good at” are the two major criteria for students, although they make career decisions based on various other factors. A comparison of elementary, middle, and high school students’ criteria for selecting occupations in 2018 and 2022 showed that the number of students who answered that they value financial compensation increased in the 2022 study. The number of students who said they wish to become doctors or legal professionals for financial compensation and social recognition also increased from 2018 to 2022. A wide range of policy efforts are required to help students form healthy occupational values considering the diversity of occupational values and the social responsibilities of licensed professions.
