This arricle deals with new directions for human resource development from the perspective of STS(science and technology studies) considering that the previous studies on S&T human resource neglected normative and social aspect of S&T activities.
STS has proposed various issues about S&T human resource development. Whereas structural and functional STS focuses on normative structure of S&T community, constructivist STS noties social combination of heterogeneosu resoures in S&T activities. But norms in S&T community need to be reshaped reflecting changes of contemporary circumstances on S&T activities, and roles of S&T personnels and general public should be supplemented in order to enhance the capabilities of social acceptance to S&T development.
In conclusion, this arricle suggests directions and themes for future human resource development related to S&T activities. First, norms is S&T community should be reshaped by strengthening of interdisciplinary research and technological management education. Second, social responsibilities of S&T personnels should be reinforced by development of knowledges and activities concerning professional ethics. Third, public understanding of S&T should be enhanced by S&T liberal education program and citizen's participation is S&T issues.
