  본 연구는 일반계 고등학교 교사 2명의 내러티브 탐구를 통하여 진로교육의 목표 및 현황, 교과통합 진로교육에 대한 교사들의 인식을 중점적으로 분석하고 그들의 생생한 견해를 드러내고자 하였다. 교사 내러티브 탐구를 통하여 진로교육을 열심히 하기 어려운 맥락, 특히 진로교육의 목표 및 내용 체계가 확실하지 않다는 점, 지식과 단편적인 정보로 구성된 교과서, 교사들의 열의와 전문성 부족의 문제를 드러냈다. 또한 고등학교에서 「진로와 직업」 교과가 제대로 이루어지기 어려운 구조적 요인과 교사들이 갖는 교과통합적 진로교육에 대하여 신중한 태도를 가지고 있음을 확인하였다. 교사들이 중요하게 인식하고 있는 진로교육의 목표는 긍정적 자아개념과 자기주도성이 기본이 되는 자기이해라는 것이 드러났다. 논의 과정에서 진로교육이 다른 교과와 의미 있게 통합되기 위한 조건에 대하여 검토하였다.

  The purpose of this study was to understand in depth the perceptions and perspectives of teachers on career education in general high schools. Narratives of two teachers were inquired. The context that hinders career education was vividly described: The lack of consensus on the goal and boundary of career education, and need for the national guidelines that enables systematic approach. Text books for career education filled with superficial information and lack of passion and professionality among teachers were another issues to be dealt with. Participants in this study showed cautious attitude on the effectiveness of  integrating career education with other academic subjects.
  Conditions that makes it possible to integrate meaningfully career education with other subject areas were discussed.
