본 연구는 국가직무능력표준(NCS) 관련 연구의 동향과 연구내용, 연구방법 등에 대해 분석하기 위해, 2011년부터 2017년까지 등재 학술지에 게재된 총 196편의 논문을 대상으로 NCS 관련 연구의 동향 및 연구 내용을 분석하였다. 구체적으로 NCS 관련 연구의 전반적인 현황, 연구영역, 연구주제, 연구대상, 연구방법 등의 연구동향을 분석하고 시사점을 도출하였다. 

분석 결과 NCS에 대한 연구는 2014년부터 매년 두드러지게 증가하고 있으며, 한국연구재단 등재 학술지의 사회과학, 자연과학, 인문학, 공학, 예술체육, 농수해양, 의약학, 복합학 등 8개 대분야의 전 분야에 걸쳐 연구실적을 보일 정도로 사회 전 분야에 걸쳐 연구가 진행되고 있다. 연구 내용은 직무능력에 관한 연구, 그 중에서 전문대학 등에서 교육과정 개발 및 개선에 관한 연구가 주류를 이루고 있었으며, 주로 조사연구방법이 활용되고 있었다. 반면, 실증연구는 7편(3.6%)에 지나지 않아 향후 활발한 연구가 요구된다. 

향후 NCS를 기반으로 국가의 교육, 훈련, 자격제도를 개편하여 능력중심 사회의 여건을 조성한다는 궁극적인 목적 달성을 위해, NCS 기반 자격제도 관련 정책 제언에 관한 연구나, 다양한 변수들 간의 영향 관계를 정리하여 교육성과에 이르는 과정을 설명할 수 있는 실증연구들이 활발히 이루어져야 할 필요가 있다.

  The number of studies on National Competency Standards (NCS) has increased since 2014, when NCS was applied to the school curriculum. However, previous studies on NCS in Korea have rarely been reviewed. The purpose of the study is to analyze the previous studies and to suggest future directions for research on NCS. We analyzed 196 studies on NCS that have been published in major journals in Korea.
  For this purpose, we analyze the research trends in NCS studies, specifically research areas, subjects, targets, methods, etc. in the first section, and suggested future NCS research directions in Korea. Key findings on NCS research trends are as follows. First, research on NCS has increased since 2014, when colleges adopted NCS as their educational basis. Second, there were more qualitative studies than empirical studies. Especially, most of the research focused on the development or revision of the curriculum subject, neglecting empirical studies. Based on the results, we suggested future research directions.
