본 연구는 직업계고 학생의 개인적 자원을 유형화하고, 개인적 자원 유형에 따른 졸업 후 이동 경로를 살펴보았다. 다양한 선행연구를 통해 직업계고 학생의 졸업 후 진로가 단일한 요인에 의해 결정되지 않음을 확인하였으며, 이에 따라 직업계고 학생의 개인적 자원이라는 개념을 도입하고자 하였다. 이때 개인적 자원은 학생 자신의 내·외적인 요소들을 총칭하는 개념으로 본 연구에서는 학생의 개인 및 가정생활 특성과 학교생활 특성 그리고 취업 및 진로와 관련한 교육 경험을 포괄하는 개념으로 정의하였다. 이를 바탕으로 한국교육고용패널Ⅱ(KEEP Ⅱ) 1차년 자료 중 직업계고 재학생 자료(N =3,615)를 잠재프로파일 분석을 통해 직업계고 학생의 취업 관련 개인적 자원을 취업준비유예형, 취업준비탐색형, 취업준비성숙형과 같이 세 가지 유형으로 구분하였다. 추가로, KEEP II의 3~5차 자료를 활용하여 학생들이 직업계고 졸업 이후 겪게 되는 취업과 진학 등 이동 경로를 생키 다이어그램(Sankey Diagram)으로 나타냈다. 결과적으로, 학생의 개인적 자원 유형에 따라 그들이 경험하는 졸업 후 경로가 달라짐을 확인하였다. 위와 같은 결과를 종합하여 직업계고 학생의 안정적인 노동시장 정착을 위한 개인, 학교, 그리고 정부의 차원에서 필요한 시사점을 논의하였다.

This study categorizes the personal resources of vocational high school students, which includes internal and external factors related to employment and career, and analyzes their career trajectories after graduation. The research utilizes data from the Korea Education and Employment Panel II (KEEP II) dataset, selecting a sample of 3,615 vocational high school students. Three types of personal resource profiles associated with employment preparation are identified: “Employment Preparation Deferment Type (27.6%),” “Employment Preparation Exploration Type (50.3%),” and “Employment Preparation Maturity Type (22.1%).”
A Sankey Diagram based on data from the third to fifth waves of the KEEP II dataset illustrates the career paths of vocational high school graduates in 2018, including employment status and college enrollment. The results reveal that career trajectories after graduation vary based on personal resources. The study’s implications concern establishing a stable labor market for vocational high school students at the individual, school, and government levels.
