The purpose of this study was to help supplement the youth employment policy and program by identifying the factors influencing the first job acquisition and the period to the first job acquisition. To do this, propensity score matching, logistic regression analysis, and the cox proportional hazard model were applied to the Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey of the Korea Employment Information Service. The findings of the current study were as follows. Most of the factors such as individual factors, participation in the program, experience in preparing for employment, and participation in the youth employment policy were found to influence the first job acquisition. In addition, the period to the first job acquisition was 11.7 months on average. Moreover, most university graduates earned their first job within five months after graduation, and their first job acquisition continued until about a year after graduation. Finally, as a result of verifying the factors influencing the first job acquisition period, it was confirmed that most of the factors influencing the first job acquisition coincided. Based on the results of the current study, the policy measures that can help university graduates get a job were discussed.
